Analytical method for the out-of-plane buckling of the telescopic boom with guy cables

The guy cables can effectively improve the bearing capacity for telescopic boom of crane, while introduction tensioned makes buckling analysis complicated. primary objective this study was to propose an analytical method out-of-plane with spatial symmetric cables. To analyze influence on property boom, deflection differential equation multi-stepped established based theory elastic beam, then characteristic determine critical load derived. Comparison results that given by finite element showed high accuracy proposed method. In end, equation, influences structural geometric parameters were investigated. indicated that, in engineering application, be increased decreasing length ratio a/L or increasing angle φ between two θ neglected. With method, behavior solved accurately. present work is significant design and safety it utilized provide technical support boom.
